The short version: everything you create stays on your phone. The app has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. The only network connection it makes is to an AI server that you configure yourself.
01Information stored on your device
The app stores the following data locally, in its private app storage:
- Your stories: titles, outlines, scripts, characters, world notes, pages, panels, drawings, bubbles and effects.
- Images you import yourself, such as cover images, character design sheets and reference pictures.
- Files you export (PDF, PNG, CBZ, long images and .mangaka backups) until you delete or share them.
- Your settings: pen name, theme, drawing hand, creative preferences and the AI server settings described below.
- Assistant conversations, if you use the optional AI assistant.
This data is not sent to us and we have no access to it. Deleting the app, or clearing its storage from Android settings, removes all of it. You can also delete individual stories inside the app; deleted stories stay in the app’s trash for 30 days and are then removed permanently.
02No account, no sign-in
Mangaka AI does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal information. The optional pen name is only printed on the credits page of files you export.
03Optional AI features
AI features are turned off until you enter the address of an AI server in Profile → AI server. This must be a server you choose and control (an OpenAI-compatible API endpoint). When you use an AI feature, the app sends the text needed for that request to that server: for example your story’s title, logline, character profiles, world notes marked “send to AI”, the relevant part of the script, and the question you type. Nothing is sent before you tap an AI button, and the app never sends your drawings or images.
The server you configure is responsible for how it handles that text. Please read the privacy terms of the service you connect. The optional API key you enter is stored only on your device and is sent only to that server. Clearing the server address turns AI features off again.
04Permissions
- Storage and file access – only through the Android file picker, when you choose an image to import, a .mangaka file to restore, or a location to save an export.
- Network – only to reach the AI server you configured.
- Vibration – for haptic feedback on buttons and tools; it can be turned off in Profile.
The app does not use location, camera, microphone, contacts or any advertising identifier.
05Analytics, advertising and third parties
The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs and does not share data with third parties. The only third party that can receive data is the AI server you configure yourself, as described in section 3.
06Sharing and exports
When you share an exported file through the Android share sheet, the file goes to the app you pick (for example an email or messaging app). That app’s privacy policy applies from that point on.
07Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since no information is collected, there is nothing for us to delete; removing the app removes all local data.
08Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes how it handles data, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date changed. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
